Peter Munk Cardiac Centre gets to the heart of cardiac innovation

Peter Munk Cardiac Centre: The future is digital, the third annual Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) magazine, is here! Looking to the future of cardiac care, the talented team at the PMCC is taking you behind the scenes, into their labs and clinics to share their pursuit of innovations in the cardiac field.

Developed in partnership with the Globe and Mail and distributed to subscribers across Canada on November 15, this year’s magazine focuses on the groundbreaking work related to:

  • Artificial intelligence and cardiac diagnostics
  • Pacemaker innovations
  • Mechanical hearts
  • Virtual care
  • Congenital heart defects
  • Global education
  • Conserving blood supplies
  • And much more

Dr. Barry Rubin, Chair and Program Medical Director, PMCC, sees a bright future for innovation and artificial intelligence at the PMCC, “We will use predictive models and decision support to tailor patients’ care to their unique clinical and genomic traits. We will use natural language processing to communicate with patients in real time, no matter what language they are speaking. Taken together, this will improve the efficiency of healthcare delivery, outcomes and patient satisfaction.”

This new technology will only add to the more than 163,000 outpatient visits and more than 10,000 cardiac and vascular procedures performed at the PMCC each year.

The PMCC is bringing together the world’s best and brightest for a common cause: to save lives.
