Fashion and fundraising proved to be an exhilarating mix at Haute Affair. Organized by the HBC Foundation, the event raised over $760,000 thanks to the leadership of Presenting Sponsors, Rogers Communications and The Bitove Foundation, to support the Dotsa Bitove Wellness Academy at UHN, a beneficiary of the Bitove Foundation, and The Darling Home for Kids, a beneficiary of The Edward and Suzanne Rogers Foundation.
Taking place in Toronto at the newly refurbished Crystal Ballroom at the King Edward Hotel on November 8, 2017, the special evening event included cocktails, a seated dinner for 280 guests and a full presentation of Giambattista Valli’s Spring/Summer 2018 runway collection.
Event Co-Chairs were Vonna Bitove and Suzanne Rogers. A TGWHF Board Member, Vonna and her family have championed the cause of supporting families struggling with dementia, through the establishment of the Dotsa Bitove Wellness Academy (DBWA).
The Academy provides participants and their families with opportunities for personal growth and discovery through creative activities, education and learning, artistic expression, discussion, intergenerational inquiry, exercise and enjoyment. The Academy allows for participants to maintain the highest possible quality of life, create new friendships and express themselves through stimulating activities. Created by University Health Network and the generous support of the Bitove Foundation, DBWA is a centre for excellence in research and care affiliated with York University. The Academy is committed to helping change the way society views and treats dementia and to create a more compassionate, person-centred approach to dementia care.
“I was incredibly honoured to present my Spring Summer 2018 collection at Haute Affair in Toronto to help bring awareness and raise funds for these important and meaningful causes,” said designer Giambattista Valli. The internationally renowned designer launched his line in 2005 and his designs are sought-after by some of the world’s most recognizable women including Amal Clooney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman and Penelope Cruz.
