Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation is on a mission to raise $1 billion through the public launch of a Billion Dollar Campaign. We have been raising money quietly for a number of years now and we are ready to take this campaign public.
Our “campaign of campaigns,” the Billion Dollar Campaign includes all of the program areas for which we currently raise funds.
The theme is “what knowledge can do” – showcasing UHN’s drive to push the frontiers of science by pursuing the knowledge that makes all our lives better.
It’s not just about knowledge today but knowledge for the future that is so motivating to Todd Halpern, Billion Dollar Campaign Chair. Joined by a powerhouse of business and community leaders, they are dedicated to raising $1 billion through various campaigns that support the broad range of programs at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital.
“Funding for our healthcare system is stretched. The only way we can continue making groundbreaking discoveries that will ultimately make patient lives better is through the support of our entire community,” says Todd.
Our community’s generous support has allowed UHN to achieve many world firsts such as: the first clinical use of insulin, the first successful single- and double-lung transplants, helping cure hepatitis C, the invention of the pacemaker, and spinal decompression that allows people with paralysis to walk again. Through continued support, we can keep pursuing the knowledge that will impact patients – in the GTA, throughout Ontario, across Canada and around the world.
