Dear Friends:

On May 4, 2009, the University of Toronto and the University Health Network will unveil a bold plan to turn the Multi-Organ Transplant Program into Canada’s first and the world’s foremost University of Toronto Transplantation Institute. A powerhouse of bright-minded doctors and scientists, the latest technologies and industry partnerships, the Institute will build upon our 20-year history of transplantation excellence and set the stage for groundbreaking advances in research, education and patient care.

We’re very excited about what our partnership will mean for Canadians, the University of Toronto and University Health Network. We invite you to join us in celebrating the establishment of the University of Toronto Transplantation Institute and honouring its Founding Director, Dr. Gary Levy, a dedicated physician and educator, and a visionary leader in transplant medicine.

Your gift and presence at the Gala Dinner will help support student training and research — a fundraising priority of Dr. Levy and the Institute. Scholarships for the Institute’s graduate students training in research will help attract outstanding new students of promise, and support existing students with leading records of accomplishment and research promise. Fellowships will be awarded to the Institute’s top post-doctoral fellows to help support specialized training and foster independent research opportunities.

Already, there is great anticipation surrounding our announcement and the Gala Dinner. Together, we can take the next important steps toward the realization of our goals.

Yours truly,

..
