What is The Parkinson’s Peloton Campaign?
The Parkinson’s Peloton Campaign is a group of recreational and competitive cyclists with a goal to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and raise funds for Parkinson’s research. Through sponsorship and donation pledges for participating in various races and cycle events, the group hopes to raise $50,000 for The Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Krembil Neuroscience Centre.
What is a Peloton?
A peloton is a group of cyclists that ride in a pack, working together to save energy while remaining competitive, taking turns at the front to ‘break the air’ allowing the others to save energy. This encompasses the energy, spirit and dedication of the team to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease and funds for Parkinson’s research.
When do the Parkinson’s Peloton team race?
The Parkinson’s Peloton team participates in numerous recreational, club and race rides during the year.
Where do the funds raised go?
Proceeds will fund the important and exciting research currently being conducted on Parkinson’s disease. Net funds will be split evenly between the Krembil Neuroscience Centre and The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Registration

I’m a cyclist – can I join the Parkinson’s Peloton team?
Yes! We welcome cyclists to join our team and our cause. You can register online by going in to the Cyclist Login page and click on New Participants.

Once you’ve been added to the team you'll receive a confirmation email with a link to your personal page. On this page you can tell your story, post a photo, and request donations. When sponsors go to your page, they can read your fundraising request and donate right there online.

Please encourage all of your sponsors to use the online system. It is easy and your donations will be credited to your account immediately, instead of two to four weeks of processing time that paper donation forms may require. Your personal page also automatically tracks your fundraising balance, so you and your sponsors can watch your progress

Fundraising

I know a participating cyclist – how do I sponsor him/her?
It's easy - just go to the Sponsor page and search for the participant by name. You can fill out the online sponsor form and the donation amount will be added to the cyclists fundraising total automatically.
What are the methods of payment for sponsoring a cyclist?
The easiest way to sponsor a cyclist is to fill out the online form on the Sponsor page. Alternatively, you can give your donation directly to the cyclist OR you can contact Amber Bernard at the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation to make a payment over the phone - 416.340.4800 x.6279.
Can I make a donation even I don’t know any of the participating cyclists?

Yes! You can still support Parkinson’s research, even if you don’t know any of the fundraisers. Not only is it easy, but we encourage this!

Tax Receipts

What is the minimum donation to get a tax receipt?
A minimum of $20 must be donated in order to receive a tax receipt.
I made a donation online. When can I expect my tax receipt?

All successful online donation tax receipts are generated with 10 minutes of making a donation.

I lost my original tax receipt. Can I get a copy?
If you have lost your original tax receipt please visit www.tgwhf.ca for contact information.
How long is the tax receipt valid for?
You have five years to claim your tax receipt on your income taxes.
