The Campaign

The Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation has partnered with the Fudge Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness in support of sickle cell disease, to launch a grassroots community campaign called Help Sickle Cell.

Toronto General Hospital is a world leader in the treatment and research of blood disorders. Money raised through the campaign will help support the Red Blood Cell Disorders Clinic at Toronto General Hospital, funding the research of Dr. Richard Ward and a variety of services provide to sickle cell patients, including pain management, tertiary care and educational support.

Sickle Cell Anemia is caused by an error in the gene that tells the body how to make hemoglobin. The defective gene tells the body to make the abnormal hemoglobin that results in deformed red blood cells.
