HARRY ROSEN
and his brother Lou founded Harry Rosen Inc. in 1954, starting with one small store on Parliament Street. With very little money (a $500 loan from a relative) they stocked the store with empty boxes and bolts of cloth on consignment and opened their door. They built their business one customer at a time through word of mouth and referrals - the rest is history.

Today, Harry Rosen has 16 menswear stores in seven major markets across Canada, claiming a 40% share of the better quality menswear market.

Harry is renowned worldwide for his passionate and innovative approach to quality menswear retailing, superior service levels and quirky advertising. He has built a great team who are carrying on his vision and standards with the same passion.

Constantly learning, Harry is taking time to travel the world and experience other cultures. He has recently spent time in England, Argentina, Russia and South Africa, to name a few. He is also fascinated with the world of medicine, in particular research, and is always reading and learning.

He considers community service an integral part of a business career and in past years has been active in the Canadian Paraplegic Association; Special Olympics; Corporate Fund for Breast Cancer; Cancer Care Fund; Mt. Sinai Friends for Life Campaign and the University of Western Board of Governors, as well as a three year term as Campaign Chairman of the Canadian Cancer Society for Metropolitan Toronto.

Currently he serves on the Mt. Sinai Board of Governors; Ryerson University’s Board of Governors; CAMH Campaign Cabinet and the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine.

Harry was honoured with an Honourary Doctorate in Commerce from Ryerson University, as well as an Honourary Doctorate from Nippissing University and in 2004 was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada and is very proud to have been acknowledged in these ways.
