About the Artist who hand painted the Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival 2011 labels

CRISTIANO ALVITI: AN INTRODUCTION

Cristiano was born on August 25th 1968. He started painting at a very young age (he is self-taught). In painting he found a way to express his inner selves, and later made a vocation of it to pay for their university studies.

This was an important phase, during which he experimented, studied and measured himself with various techniques, such as oil painting, mosaic, fresco and decoration. However, he never stopped developing the particular research which is peculiar to all his work: the interaction between the expression of one's inner self and society, which embraces each individual. Their favourite technique is watercolour painting. This gave birth, aside from watercolour paintings, to more complex works, which were always part of projects and collections he realized with utter expressive independence.

Their strength is in their projects, a blend of shapes and colours which tell stories and involve the viewers, inviting them on a journey into emotions.

In 2004 he became art director of MIA - Meet In Art, an Association for cultural promotion.

He started to produce large-sized works and to mould matter, and he commissioned by Rome’s City Council to design and realize two sculpture-fountains, with reinforced concrete and mosaics, for two squares in Rome. Once his eclectic phase of experimentation came to an end, Cristiano decided to espouse classic figurative arts and materials. He believed that he could not disown the classical essence of sculpting, more so because he was born and raised in Rome and the classical beauty of the city has always inspired their artistic experience.
