Romantic Journey through Italy
with the Villa d’Este Group of Hotels

Generously donated by Villa d’Este Group of Hotels

The winner of this magnificent prize will travel to Lake Como, Italy to be our guest for 3 nights at the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este, recently ranked the World’s Best Hotel by Forbes Traveler.  Guests will enjoy a stay in one of our 16th century estate's luscious junior suites, no two of which are alike in decor.  Each morning, you'll awaken to the peaceful sounds of the Lake and join us for complimentary breakfast in the Veranda Restaurant, or enjoy a Continental breakfast for two in the privacy of your own home away from home.   On one night of your choosing, award-winning Executive Chef, Luciano Parolari, who is known as the King of Risotto in Italy, will prepare a magnificent dinner for you at La Veranda Restaurant (beverages not included).  Prior to or after sampling his cuisine, you will enjoy a private cooking lesson with Chef Parolari himself, who will no doubt bring you on a short hike up the hills behind the Villa d'Este to pick herbs and vegetables from his organic garden

At Villa La Massa, the Villa d’Este Group Hotels’ jewel in Tuscany, you will step back in time to the Renaissance when Villa La Massa was the country estate of a Medici family, the Landinis.  From the vantage point of your junior suite,  you will gaze out upon the rich colors of the Chianti region and the estate's 20 acres of lemon trees and olive groves for 3 nights.  The hotel is located a stone's throw from the historic center of Florence, should you even wish to leave the serenity of the hotel. While at Villa La Massa, you will receive a complimentary breakfast daily (Continental in room, Buffet in the Il Verrocchio Restaurant) as well as one dinner at Il Verrocchio Restaurant (beverages not included) and a private wine tasting in our 12th Century wine cellar with the Sommelier.  For the guest that truly wants to experience the dolce vita, we will offer one spa treatment, which may include our Chianti Wine Therapy massage or facial, or the White Chocolate variety!

The prize is based on double occupancy; the hotels are open March to November each year; the blackout period is May 28-August 14, 2010 at Villa d’Este and May 28-July 17,2010 and Sept 3-25, 2010 at Villa La Massa

About Villa d’Este
Villa d' Este is more than just a hotel, it’s an experience. Guests leave today’s hustle and bustle behind the minute they pass the revolving doors into the main foyer, immediately surrounded by the luxury and magnificence of a bygone era—which is lovingly kept intact in this glorious 16th Century palazzo.

The world-renowned hotel sits on the banks of Italy’s Lake Como. It was built in 1568 as the summer residence of a Cardinal, is surrounded by 25 acres of park and grants one a chance to experience a lifestyle that was once reserved only for royalty.  For over 136 years, the hotel has welcomed VIPs of all kinds- monarchs, dignitaries, business leaders and of course, celebrities.

It offers guests fun and relaxation, a state of the art Beauty Center and the finest in Italian cuisine.

Villa d’ Este has been awarded various honors over the years in recognition of its tradition of elegance and best in class service.  Most recently, it was named the World’s Best Hotel by the Forbes Traveler 400 board- beating out over 700 other hotels for the No. 1 spot.  It is open March through mid-November each year and is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, a select Virtuoso property as well as part of the Kiwi Collection.

About Villa La Massa
Villa La Massa, a former Medici residence, is the ideal vantage point from which to experience Florence like a Renaissance noble.  Just a short drive from downtown Florence—its sophisticated stone buildings and magnificent gardens do not give away the secrets that lie within:   luxurious custom linen and antique filled rooms; windowed marble bathrooms and state of the art amenities graciously paired with old world charm.

The property’s 12th century cellar is the perfect stage for the sommelier to educate our guests about some of the finest Tuscan vintages of past and present. While avid oenophiles would claim that the venue is insignificant- “it’s only the wine that matters”, we beg to differ.  This cantina is unique and a rarity all the world over—certainly making the wines all that much better.

Because of its proximity to the finest wine producers in Tuscany, our sommelier has access to optimal vintages and has thus put together an outstanding wine list and tasting program.  He is able to customize tastings and/or paired meals for clients with particular tastes or interests and can bring to bear relationships with some of Italy’s most respected wine families—the Folonari, Antinori, Frescobaldi—to name a few.

The intimacy that is afforded by Villa La Massa is what leaves our guests feeling that they’ve spent time at a country home (albeit a very luxurious one).  Our sommelier and Executive Chef are happy to customize menus and pairings for food and wine lovers- it is Tuscany after all!  No effort is spared to ensure that your stay is comfortable and memorable.
