The 6th annual Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival was a great success raising approximately $800,000, bringing the total in six years to over 8.2 million dollars!
Fifteen of Toronto’s most magnificent and lavish homes were host to the Exclusive Wine & Dine Experience where guests enjoyed extraordinary wines from world-class estates paired perfectly with exquisite cuisine by top culinary chefs. Each home featured a leading University Health Network scientist as their special guest. It was a memorable evening for all.
Funds raised at the 2010 Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival supported Dr. Michael Fehlings and the Spinal Program at the Krembil Neuroscience Centre, Toronto Western Hospital.
The Spinal Program is focused on providing and advancing treatment strategies and ultimately developing a cure for paralysis resulting from spinal disorders and spinal cord injury. Established in 1994 by Dr. Michael Fehlings, the program is recognized as a Centre of Excellence in Spine and Spinal Cord Injury Care by the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation.
The patient care strength of the Spinal Program comes from its full complement of integrated services. As one of the top five spinal centres in North America, patients have access to skilled surgeons who work closely with neurologists, psychiatrists using physical therapeutic intervention, respiratory therapists, neuropsychologists, acute care nurses, and rehabilitation professionals. This integrated team delivers the best care for the most complex disorders and injuries of the spine.
Participation in Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival provides extraordinary support to the outstanding medical researchers at University Health Network.
Our sincere appreciation goes out to Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival chair Todd Halpern, hosts, chefs, wine makers, guests, University Health Network scientists, and event supporters for their commitment, dedication and generosity.
