About Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival

This year marks the 5th anniversary of Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival in Toronto. In its first four years, Grand Cru has raised over $5.5 million for research at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital.

	Thursday October 29, 2009 :: Wine Tasting & Live Auction Indulge in fine wines featured by 90 world-acclaimed winemakers. Bid on fabulous experiences and outstanding rare wine lots.
	Friday October 30, 2009 :: Exclusive Wine & Dine Experience Savour exquisite gourmet cuisine prepared by top culinary chefs paired with extraordinary wine from world-renowned vintners. Each dinner will feature a UHN scientist, and take place in the comfort of a private home.

Our Cause – Supporting Research
The scope of research and complexity of cases at University Health Network have made it a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care. It has the largest hospital-based research program in Canada, with major research in diabetes, transplantation, cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, surgical innovation, infectious diseases, and genomic medicine.

Your participation in Grand Cru provides extraordinary research support to the outstanding medical researchers at University Health Network. These investigators are internationally recognized leaders whose work is transformative in their field. Funds from Grand Cru will help to retain them in Toronto and enable them to significantly expand their research programs.

In 2008, proceeds supported the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and the establishment of the I³ Centre, a new cardiovascular imaging facility at Toronto General Hospital.

This year half of the proceeds will support the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine and the remaining 50% will support basic research at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital.

McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine focuses on healing techniques that use cells to repair or grow tissues, organs and new cells. The world-leading research currently underway at the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine holds immense potential to generate transformative treatments for conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, spinal cord injury and cancer.
