9th Annual Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival
October 31 to November 2, 2013

On Saturday November 1, 2014 Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival will once again bring together the best chefs, finest wines and most esteemed UHN doctors and scientists for the 10th Annual Exclusive Wine & Dine Experience.

This year funds raised will be directed to Toronto General Research Institute and Toronto Western Research Institute.

Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival has raised more than $16.4 million since 2005.  Proceeds directly support scientific research and fund key program areas at University Health Network.

The Toronto General Research Institute (TGRI) is the research arm of the Toronto General Hospital, and is responsible for advancing surgical and medical innovations that ensure excellence in clinical care. TGRI's research program features more than 230 scientists and encompasses research in cardiology, transplantation, immunology and autoimmunity, infectious diseases, tissue injury and diabetes. Building upon this work, our scientists are able to develop improved methods of treatment and cure including promising work in stem cell research conducted at the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine. Advances in organ transplants, cardiac pacemakers, novel therapies for endocrine and autoimmune disorders—are all based upon research carried out in TGRI laboratories.

The Toronto Western Research Institute is home to the research programs associated the programs of Toronto Western Hospital, primarily “brains, bones and eyes.”  Scientists here explore the function of the nervous system as they develop treatments for spinal cord injuries, cerebral ischemia, vascular malformations, brain tumours, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Arthritis and associated degenerative diseases are the focus of the researchers in the musculoskeletal research program.  TWRI’s collaboration with UHN’s McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine holds significant promise for treatments and cures through in arthritis, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy and vision.  TWRI is also home to the Vision Science Research Program, a joint UHN/University of Toronto Program.

Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation raises funds for research, education and the enhancement of patient care at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital as well as for their respective research arms, Toronto General Research Institute and Toronto Western Research Institute.

Thanks to the support of our many sponsors, donors, participants, chefs and vintners, we are pleased to announce that the 9th Annual Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival raised $5 million for the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine where funds will be used collaboratively for heart, arthritis, diabetes and vision research.
