Taking place on October 29 & 30, 2015, this year marks the 11th anniversary of Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival (Grand Cru). Proceeds raised at Grand Cru directly support scientific research and fund key program areas at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network (UHN).
Assembling the finest wine, gourmet cuisine and the brightest minds in medical research, Grand Cru has raised more than $18.2 million since 2005. Proceeds in 2015 will benefit the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine, UHN.
The McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine is a world-leader in regenerative medicine research, facilitating collaboration, driving forward discovery and promoting awareness of stem cell research. The McEwen Centre includes 15 senior scientists and their teams of postdoctoral fellows and students, representing UHN, Mount Sinai, Sick Kids and the University of Toronto. These scientists are accelerating research to deliver more effective treatments for heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, osteoarthritis, liver diseases, diseases affecting loss of vision, and spinal cord injury. The scientific expertise at the Centre enables the ability to replicate patient specific disease in a petri dish and test and identify new therapies to treat disease, delivering personalized medicine solutions for patients. McEwen Centre Investigators collaborate with research scientists and clinicians at institutions throughout North America, Europe, Israel and the Asia/Pacific region.
