Peter Munk Cardiac Centre
As one of the largest programs of its kind in North America, the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) is the premier cardiac centre in Canada. Our outstanding cardiology interventions attract hundreds of visiting professors and trainees from around the globe. Each year, approximately 17,000 patients receive innovative and compassionate care from PMCC’s world-renowned multidisciplinary heart team. Our program offers resources and expertise prepared to deal with even the most complex patient cases.

Your support contributes the tireless work of Dr. Tirone David, Head of the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery.  Among other achievements, in 1986 Dr. David introduced the use of a patch technique to repair ruptures of the heart wall following a heart attack, and in 2001 he led the development of a new pig valve and aorta to replace the diseased aortic root. Dr. David is one of a handful of cardiac surgeons in the world who can visualize problems in three dimensions, routinely operating on those patients whom others have turned away due to the complexity of their situation.
