Dr. Khalid Syed’s academic career at the University of Toronto began in 1992 with a degree in human biology from which he graduated magna cum laude. He went on to obtain his medical degree at U of T, graduating in 1999. Among his awards and honors, Dr. Syed received the Alpha Omega Alpha Award in 1999.

Following a fellowship in arthroplasty and trauma at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Dr. Syed completed a second fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital in arthroplasty and foot and ankle surgery under MHA Program Director Dr. Nizar Mahomed and orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Johnny Lau.

Dr. Syed conducts research focused on his specialty, publishes and has given lectures from St. John, Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, the Canadian Medical Association ands the Ontario Medical Association.

He or she will then fax a referral, along with all appropriate medical history and test results. The Orthopaedic Surgeon's office will book the appointment with your family doctor who will contact you with the date and time.

The clinical expertise of Orthopaedic Division members includes hip and knee replacements, minimally invasive spinal decompression, sports medicine and arthroscopic reconstructive surgery, arthritis surgery (including ankle replacements and joint transplants) and rheumatoid foot and ankle reconstruction.
