The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery is an integral member of the Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (MHA) Program. It consists of 10 surgeons providing care for patients with complex Musculoskeletal Disorders from across the province. The Division has the largest volume of complex joint replacement surgeries in the Greater Toronto Area. Utilizing the most current technology and specializing in handling complex cases, the Division acts as a referral centre for orthopedic patients from across the province and country.
Our team of surgeons works with nurses, physiotherapists and other health care workers in the pre-operative, operative and post-operative stages, ensuring patients receive the proper attention through all phases of their treatment. With a patient-centred approach our goal is to return patients to their everyday activities as soon as possible.
More than 2,000 in patients and 125,000 outpatients are treated annually. Members of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery have subspecialty interests where their clinical, academic and educational energies are focused.
Research fuels our high-quality patient care, as we work to better understand arthritis and other conditions that affect the joints. Our surgeons are actively involved in leading-edge orthopaedic research -- both clinical studies and basic science research -- and are committed to bringing improved techniques and treatments to patients.
