The Division of Orthopaedics at the University Health Network plays a significant role in orthopaedic resident training. We are one of seven full affiliated academic training hospitals and provide both clinical and research trainee to the majority of the University of Toronto Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.

Toronto Western Hospital’s Orthopaedic Division and the University of Toronto established the first formal training program in orthopaedic surgery and it has become renowned for the pioneering advances made in the specialty. Orthopaedic surgeons from around the world visit Toronto to learn and to teach this specialty.
