April 28, 2010

On behalf of the committee, we would like to thank you for your incredible support and generous contributions, honouring Harry Rosen, and The Harry Rosen Diabetes Chair in Stem Cell Research, at the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine, University Health Network.

Dressed to impress, the finest among Toronto’s business and philanthropic communities, along with the who’s who of the international fashion industry, came out to celebrate the successes and contributions of our guest-of-honour, Harry Rosen.

The night kicked off with smooth vocals by up-and-coming Canadian singing sensation Matt Dusk, however, things really took off when he was joined on stage by none other than Harry to sing their hilarious rendition of They can’t take that away from (Harry) Me.  A sumptuous meal by the Four Seasons was followed by a tribute video to Harry where family, friends and colleagues gave us an intimate glimpse into the man behind the image.  An informative video by the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine moved guests with the personal story of Canadian Olympic Rowing Champion and Type 1 Diabetic Chris Jarvis and his family. We also heard inspiring messages from the medical and scientific leaders of the McEwen Centre and of University Health Network, including Dr. Bob Bell, Dr. Gordon Keller, Dr. Derek van der Kooy and Dr. Gary Lewis, about the timely and tremendous advancements at the McEwen Centre.

The evening was a tremendous success and we are extremely pleased to announce that together we have raised over $1.8 million for this important cause. Once again, your wonderful support and generous contributions will move our scientists that much closer to developing a cure for this devastating disease.

We encourage you to follow Harry’s lead and be inspired to make further donations to The Harry Rosen Diabetes Chair in Stem Cell Research by visiting www.hatsofftoharry.ca

With great appreciation,
