Sameer Shareef |
Born as a blue baby with congenital heart disease, Sameer Shareef was treated for his condition at a hospital in South Arabia when he was just a baby. But two decades later it became clear further surgery was needed.
Sameer underwent pulmonary valve surgery at Toronto General Hospital in 2009 to replace his leaky pulmonary valve and to widen his narrowed left pulmonary artery. The operation was a complete success.
"It is unfortunate to have heart disease, but it is great fortune to have the dedicated team at Toronto General Hospital to take care of Sameer," noted the grateful parents.
Sameer’s family was so thankful for the care their son received that they decided to honour his health care team of Drs. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Ann Grise, Erwin Oechslin, Osman O. Al-Radi and Ms. Jane Taton by making a generous donation in their honour.
"Everyone at the hospital was very friendly, helpful and understanding," says Sameer. His mother adds, "Sameer recovered so quickly. The surgery was done perfectly
from start to end.
