The Temerty/Chang International Centre for Telesimulation and Innovation in Medical Education: Saving Lives through Distance Education & Training The Temerty/Chang International Centre for Telesimulation and Innovation in Medical Education is bridging a crucial gap in health care in developing countries. Using the latest telecommunications and simulation technology, the Temerty/Chang Telesimulation Centre provides training in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques – online – for doctors in poor, isolated or under-resourced areas. Surgeons who complete the Temerty/Chang Telesimulation Centre’s program acquire the skills necessary to perform safer, less invasive procedures.
In the two years since the Temerty/Chang Telesimulation Centre launched its innovative education program – called telesimulation – it has trained 100 surgeons in countries such as Botswana, Peru, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. With a critical shortage of surgical and other medical specialists in developing countries, it is essential that we increase our telesimulation capacity. Our goal is to raise $10 million to meet this rapidly growing demand. With your support, we can reach more countries, expand resources to include other in-demand specialties such as obstetrics and maternal health, and improve outcomes for patients. There’s always an answer. We’ll find it. For more information on how you can help us find the answers, please contact: Kristin Morrison, Campaign Director Related Links |
