Dancing trackside to raise funds for two hospital programs
May 21, 2008 – It was life-saving surgery by Dr. Robert Cusimano and the ongoing control of her pulmonary hypertension by Dr. John Granton that inspired Sandra Rinomato, popular television host, to organize the Horse and Boogie fundraiser this past May. Sandra, along with a dedicated committee and 135 guests, successfully raised more than $22,000 in an evening of music, auctions, raffles, horse betting and gold fish racing. All proceeds will support research in pulmonary hypertension and heart failure at TGH.

Dock party raises money for lung disease
July 19, 2008 – Dr. Charles Chan, Head of the Division of Respirology, has some enthusiastic supporters. Murray Adam, a patient of Dr. Chan’s, and his family recently organized a very successful Sizzling Summer Celebration for the third year in a row at the Adams’ Haliburton cottage. This year, Roger Scannura, Canada’s premier flamenco guitarist, was on hand to serenade the guests. The barbecue event ended with the gypsy band, Sultans of String, and fireworks on the beach, to celebrate raising over $28,000 in support of the Pulmonary Research Fund at UHN.
